Like Patagonia, Life is Good is fuelled by their corporate social responsibility initiatives. They are a $100M U.S. clothing brand rooted in the belief that optimism is the most powerful ingredient for accomplishing goals and living a fulfilling life. They spread their positive message with their apparel and put much of their proceeds into their Kids Foundation. Expanding into Canada, they needed to connect with Canadians far and wide without the benefit of a mass budget.
To answer that brief, The Garden created the first-of-its-kind Power of Optimism machine. Using EEG technology, we actually connected to peoples’ brainwaves to tangibly demonstrate that positive thoughts really do have the power to make a real life impact.
Not only did the Optimism Machine bring traffic to the Life is Good retail pop-up, it attracted the attention of media outlets as far-reaching as Forbes Magazine, which wrote "with this idea the message is right, the creative idea is right and the timing for something like this is ridiculously right." The machine is currently onsite at the Life is Good offices awaiting a potential U.S. tour, taking the power of positive thinking on the road.
